THANKSGIVING

How to Ask God For Things

Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with THANKSGIVING, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Often times we don’t receive answers to prayers because we fail to include thanksgiving to God for what we have asked for. The Bible tells us that when it comes to requests, we are not to be anxious but by prayer and supplication WITH THANKSGIVING we should make our requests known to God. This means that simply asking God is not enough but that your prayer and supplication must be accompanied with THANKSGIVING in order to see that request fulfilled. This thanksgiving creates an expectation which will not be cut off by God (Proverbs 23:18).

Therefore, the next time you bring a request to God end your request with thanksgiving, thanking God in advance for having already received what you've asked Him for. And as you do this, watch the answers to your prayers begin to manifest practically in your life!

This is why in teaching His disciples about faith and prayer, Jesus said the following:

Mark 11:24

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, BELIEVE THAT YOU RECEIVE THEM, AND YOU WILL HAVE THEM.

The key to answered requests to God in prayer that is accompanied with advanced thanksgiving for those answered requests. For His promises to us are Yea and Amen (2 Corinthians 1:20).

May God answer every request in this season for you in Jesus name!
